Who Balboa Capital is today

Balboa Capital is a division of Ameris Bank. Its old domain redirects to Ameris Bank Equipment Finance, which offers equipment financing, small business loans and SBA loans.

When we checked in October 2026, balboacapital.com redirected to Ameris Bank Equipment Finance, and the site states that Balboa Capital is a division of Ameris Bank, a member FDIC bank. Customer and vendor logins still carry the Balboa name. Its menu lists equipment financing, commercial financing, small business loans, SBA loans, vendor financing, franchise financing and equipment leasing.

That bank ownership matters in two ways. You are dealing with one regulated lender rather than a group of funders, and the products follow that lender's own credit rules. If your file falls outside them, there is no second option inside the same application.

Equipment financing: Balboa's core product

Ameris Bank Equipment Finance lists application-only equipment financing up to $500,000 for hard collateral and $350,000 for soft collateral, with 2+ years, $100,000+ revenue and a 640 FICO as minimums.

Its equipment financing page (checked October 2026) says:

  • Application-only approvals up to $500,000 for hard collateral and up to $350,000 for soft collateral such as software.
  • One-hour approval decisions during regular business hours, and same-day funding available if approved.
  • Minimums of 2+ years in business, $100,000+ in annual revenue and a FICO score of 640 or more.
  • Businesses with 6 months to under 2 years in operation may qualify for up to $50,000 through select programs.
  • Most deals are written for 24, 36, 48 or 60 months, and personal guarantees are required.

Its office hours are listed as 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific, Monday through Friday. That is useful for owners on the West Coast who want same-day decisions late in their day.

Small business loans and SBA loans at Ameris

The site lists small business loans from $20,000 to $250,000 on 3 to 24 month terms, and SBA 7(a) and 504 loans from $400,000 to $5 million that usually take close to 90 days.

On its small business loans page, the lender lists loans of $20,000 to $250,000, terms of 3 to 24 months, daily or weekly ACH payments and prepayment without penalty. Its requirements box shows 2+ years in business, $300,000+ in annual revenue and a 640 FICO, while the text and FAQ on the same page mention one year and a 620 score. Ask which standard applies to your file. Requests over $250,000 need two years of tax returns, financial statements and current interims.

Its SBA page lists 7(a) and 504 loans from $400,000 to $5 million, says it is an SBA Preferred Lender, and says most requests take close to 90 days. Anyone owning 20% or more must sign a personal guarantee.

Running the numbers on an equipment purchase

Compare the monthly payment with the monthly profit the machine adds; if the profit covers the payment with room to spare, the term length matters more than small rate differences.

Illustrative example: a print shop wants a $120,000 press that should add about $6,000 a month in gross profit. Over 60 months, a payment near $2,500 leaves roughly $3,500 a month after the payment. Over 36 months, a payment near $3,900 still leaves about $2,100 a month and the press is paid off two years sooner.

Both work. The 60-month option protects cash if work slows; the 36-month option costs less in total. Ask any lender for the total of all payments on each term, not just the monthly figure. Our guide to funding equipment purchases has a checklist of quote details to request. All numbers are illustrative.

When Balboa is the better fit, and when ROI Funder is

Balboa fits established, creditworthy businesses buying equipment or seeking a bank SBA loan. ROI Funder fits files below those minimums or owners who need working capital as well as equipment.

Balboa / Ameris may be better if: you have two or more years in business, a 640+ score, and you are financing a specific machine, vehicle or software package. A bank lender with a one-hour decision window and 60-month terms is a strong option for that buyer. Its SBA team also handles larger 7(a) and 504 loans if you can wait for the process.

ROI Funder may be better if: your score is under 640, your business is under two years old and needs more than $50,000, or what you need is not tied to equipment, such as payroll, inventory or a working capital gap. We place equipment financing (2 to 7 days), lines of credit, term loans and revenue-based financing, and we match each file to the funders in our 100+ funder network that fit it.

Our application takes a few minutes, uses a soft credit pull with no impact on your score, and carries no obligation to accept an offer.
