When PayPal is the better fit
PayPal is a strong choice when most of your sales run through PayPal, you need a modest amount, and your revenue is below $20,000 a month.
- Online sellers with PayPal-heavy revenue. Working Capital repayments shrink in slow weeks because they follow PayPal sales.
- Smaller businesses. $15,000 a year in PayPal sales can qualify for Working Capital. ROI Funder's guideline is $20,000 a month.
- Credit concerns. Working Capital does not check personal credit.
- Small, quick amounts. A few thousand dollars for a restock can arrive in minutes once approved.
When ROI Funder is the better fit
ROI Funder fits businesses whose revenue flows through many channels, those needing more than PayPal's limits, and owners who want lines, equipment or SBA options.
PayPal sizes Working Capital to PayPal activity. If most of your sales come through card terminals, ACH, checks or other platforms, that history barely counts. We look at all deposits in your business bank statements.
We place working capital, revenue-based financing, term loans, lines of credit, equipment financing and SBA loans from $5,000 to $5,000,000, matched across our 100+ funder network. The application uses a soft pull. Approved, complete files (application plus 3 months of business bank statements) can fund the same business day.
Another factor is concentration. If PayPal is one of several sales channels, a Working Capital offer sized to PayPal activity alone may be smaller than your business can support. Owners in that position often get more useful terms when a funder can see all of their deposits in one place.
Comparing a percentage-of-sales loan fairly
With sales-based repayment, cost per year depends on how fast you sell. Model a slow and a fast scenario before you accept.
Illustrative example: $20,000 borrowed with a $2,400 fixed fee, $22,400 to repay.
- If repaid in 6 months, the fee is about $400 per month of use.
- If repaid in 12 months, about $200 per month of use.
Faster sales mean a higher effective yearly cost but less time in debt. Also check the 90-day minimum: on a short loan, 10% of $22,400 is $2,240 due each 90 days even if sales dip. Read total cost of a funding offer for the method.
Frequently asked questions
Does PayPal Working Capital check my credit?
PayPal's page says there is no personal credit check and that eligibility is based primarily on PayPal account history.
What does the PayPal Business Loan require?
Its page lists at least nine months in business, at least $33,300 in annual revenue and a PayPal business account.
Who is the lender behind PayPal's business loans?
PayPal's pages name WebBank as the lender for both Working Capital and the Business Loan.
Do I need PayPal sales to apply with ROI Funder?
No. We review all deposits in your business bank account, whatever channel they come from.
Can I have a PayPal loan and an ROI Funder offer at the same time?
Possibly, but adding a second payment on top of an existing one is the most common cause of cash trouble. Tell us about any current balance so the new offer is sized to what your account can carry.
